Sunday, October 18, 2026

Prof. Kohavi was one of the Faculty’s longest-serving and most influential members. His research received widespread international recognition and focused on computational models, switching theory and finite-state machines (automata), as well as the development of testing and reliability methods for digital systems.

Alongside his extensive scientific contributions, his physical and institutional legacy at the Technion will endure for many years to come. He devoted himself to leading the construction of the Faculty’s home, the Taub Building. This project enabled the Faculty’s rapid growth and helped establish it as one of the world’s leading computer science faculties.

Prof. Kohavi also served as Director of the Technion Research and Development Foundation, and later as Executive Vice President and Director General of the Technion, until his retirement. In these roles, he led strategic development initiatives, construction projects, fundraising efforts, and the management of the Technion’s operations. May his memory be a blessing.
