Tel-Aviv University (TAU) is the largest university in Israel.
The School of Mathematical Sciences consists of four departments:
- Pure Mathematics,
- Applied Mathematics,
- Computer Sciences, and
- Statistics and Operational Research,
and altogether has 85 faculty members in
diverse fields. This structure of the school facilitates collaboration
between the different departments, and in particular between the
department of Applied Mathematics and the department of Computer
Sciences. In the Applied Mathematics Department there is a strong
and active group in approximation theory and
computer-aided-geometric-design (N. Dyn and D. Levin),
that cooperates with the groups of
computer graphics (D. Cohen-Or) and
computer vision (H. Yeshurun) from the Computer Science Department.
