The Technion is Israel's most prominent engineering school, which has an internationally-recognized Computer Science department. One of the stronger applied fields within the Computer Science department is The department is well-equipped with computing infrastructure to conduct these activities.

During 1992-96, Gotsman was involved (with Technion colleague G. Agranov) in the design and implementation of a prototype system for terrain visualization and flight simulation (called TerraSoft), involving large terrain triangle databases and satellite imagery, incorporating level-of-detail-control.

Currently, Gotsman is affiliated with (and was until recently, while on sabbatical leave, managing director of) Virtue Ltd. of Haifa, a small company marketing 3D graphics technologies, including mesh simplification and compression.
