Splines are fundamental tools in numerous branches of
applied mathematics. During her visit, Mare designed programs in Matlab to
construct so-called minimally supported B-wavelets for a given spline order d
and two nested knot sequences. For given coarse and fine knot sequences she
used explicit alghoritms to determine the supports of the B-wavelet functions,
though only up to a normalization constant. An open question here is how to fix
the normalization factor for each B-wavelet function to get best possible
stability for the whole B-wavelet spaces.
