SIM is a Norwegian private company (Norwegian classification: AS),
established in 1994.
SIM offers solutions in visualization and simulation based on leading
edge expertise in 3D graphics optimization and software
development. As of May 1999, SIM has eight full time employees based in
Trondheim (main office) and Oslo. Seven of the employees hold
M.Sc. degrees in Computer Science and/or Computer Engineering.
Amongst SIM's customer list are NASA on Mars missions,
Saga Petroleum on the sea bed of the North Sea, advanced
integration projects with Bull in the telecom industry,
and simulators constructed with focus on ease of use and
maintainability to the Norwegian Army.
SIM's core product is the Rational Reducer Series (RR) of polygon
reduction software. RR was launched internationally in 1998, after two
years of development.
SIM was recently awarded the Rosing Creativity Prize of 1998
by the Norwegian Computer Society for this software.
The main roles of SIM in the network project will be to:

Supply the other research teams with real life scenarios,
problem areas and data sets.

Commercialise project results by incorporating them into the next
generation of the Rational Reducer Series product line, and other
products where it might be beneficial.

Take part in project meetings to continuously evaluate
the relevance and usability of the research being done,
from an industrial point of view.
