Project description
Starting from a construction of E. Quak and M. Floater of piecewise linear prewavelets on arbitrary triangulations, Daniela built a multiresolution on the sphere, consisting of rational spline prewavelets on arbitrary spherical triangulation. These prewavelets have local support, fact which is very important in working with a big amount of data. In meteorology for instance, where the amount of data is very large, locally supported bases lead to sparse matrices for decomposition, compression and reconstruction.
