CONNECTED 28.01.1975 - NO CARRIER ...

Background:

Well I'm 28 years old. My real name is : Lardo Foxburr of Fair Downs (see).
I was born at the Ukraine, where I have spent my youth. In November 90 my family (#include "philip.d") made Alia and droped down in Beer-Sheva.
After finishing high-school 've spent 3 years in IDF.

Education:

Technion
The Israel hi-tech university. The best a money can buy.
After finishing BA in CS I've started a MSc in CS, which keeps me busy until now. My research field is Machine Learning. My thesis proposal name is "Variance Optimized Bagging", where "Bagging" stands for bootstrap aggregation. Bagging is one of so called ensemble methods , if it still makes no sense to you, then never mind. :)
Lately, my thesis, which seems to have a autonomous life, made a switch to a more theoretical direction. Now, we're trying to provide a bound on transduction learning.
The thesis is done under a supervision of Ran El-Yaniv (take a look at the great classification applet) and generous help of Ron Meir.

Work Experience:

I've worked at NetVision as a technical supporter:
(kinda staff: What is your problem , luser ?). It lasted for two-three month and I'm happy that it lasted. I've worked for more than two years in Intel (ever heard about it?)
as an Intranet Software developer.Fun job and great people, i enjoyed every moment there.
Next job is TA in Technion, Data Structures and Neural Networks. while this one was a cool job, apparently students liked it much less :) How, do i know that ? Numbers, numbers.
Then I've spent a summer as an intern in Quantum SnapServer devision, which was quite cool apart from writing in Java. Surprisingly, they are selling the project i've wrote: server to server synchronization
Now i'm working in SANRAD, which is a startup company in a storage area. More specifically, we're doing an iSCSI virtualization switch. The job is a real-time system.

Nerd Life:

Programming: Python, great language !!!
C/C++ ... ok. they are not all bad. There are a good points, for example, speed. Or speed. yeah, speed is a great example.
Java I didn't like the Java very much once. With time I've used to appreciate its elegance and simplicity. GC is a great thing. However, Java takes an OO concept way to far: you can't make a simple constant, you have to make a class with a static member. How ugly is that !!!! Javascript, this one is nice but no more than that
CGI + PERL programming (they come together most of the time)
HTML/XML Not exactly a language, but ...
Networking

Theory: ALife + Cellular Automata -- we all made from it :-)
Chaos theory and dynamic systems (a bit)
Genetic Algorithms
Online algorithms
Information theory
Software engineering

General computer related I run Linux at home and my editor is VIM ( the best ever created !!!).
My favorite IDE for C/C++ is VIM and CTAGS. I've used once a very nice IDE Code Crusader, but its got commercial and i don't feel the urge to buy it yet. If you have some money to spend then consider this one. Its fast and packed with features. Debugger is DDD. Although, lately i'm starting to think that its too "heavy". If you can code without bugs then do that.
Version Control - CVS now, but I'm making a transition to Subversion
Window Manager - Enlightenment.
Another very nice editor is SciTe which makes use of Scintilla editing component.

Non-nerd life:

Hobby: I like to draw/paint.
Sport:I like to be a dynamic system by myself, means i go to a gym, sometimes to a pool, run, play basketball.
Things to relax: Sea,ocean, mountains and nature in general.
Writers: Kurt Vonnegut, Borches, O.Henry, Kortasar.
Favorite Comics: Sluggy Freelancer, Something Positive, Bruno the Bandit, GPF

This is it for now. See ya later ...

Guess who is it..

Here is my better picture
