This page was updated on Fri Nov 12 21:02:40 IST 2004
Here is the list of books in Hebrew or of Hebrew authors that I've read and
might recommend to read if i were asked to.
It is pity that i don't find time to write more full reviews for fun and for
profit.

Pipelines by Edgar Kerret - May 2001
At first I've liked it a lot. Short stories that touched something in me. They
moved
some deep thought¸ that kind of thought that you don't really think, but just
stare in one spot and flow in time. Naturally, I've continued reading it and
the magic began to dissolve. Some of the stories pretended to be too deep, some
where just to kitchy and shallow. There were still pearls, but they were rare.
Don't get me wrong, this book is nice and its worth reading. I also never
regret a single moment, that I've invested in this book. Its just that it
started better than its ended. I guess that i will put my hand on another book
by Kerret and then my opinion will be more solid.

Hahatuna shel Biton by Itzik Hadad - May 2001
I know Hadad. He is doing a reserved duty with me. This is how I've got this
book. He is a great story-teller. He enjoys telling stories. There are some
people that don't like telling long stories and they cut off the details and
feelings. The story without the details becomes a skeleton and completely
empty, which makes it boring to listed to it. In turn, the teller feels that
his story bored the hell out of people and tries to finish it faster by cutting
more details and only sketching it, which closes the circle. Hadad is not like
that. He enjoys telling stories and he enjoys being in the center of
attention. His stories are full with life, feelings and details. This is
basically is this book: stories. They are written exactly as he tells them.
If you want to tell a great story then learn one by heart and tell it.
The problem is that when the words written on paper, they have to be changed a
bit. You can't pass author voice modulations and body language in a book. So
you have to make sure that a reader will be in a correct mood when he reads,
thus you can't just write your great story as you tell it. It wont make the
same effect.
Anyway, the stories are funny and cool. This book can will make you smile, or
you get your money back. :-)

Missing Kissinger by Edgar Kerret - July 2001
I've liked the previous one by Kerret and decided to read another one. In this
one he took his talent in the extreme. Unfortunately in both directions. There
are some very good stories and there are some very bad stories, actually,
there is almost no stories in the middle. My overall impression from this book
is disappointment. I've expected more from it, its that its bad, but I've
liked the first one better.

How to draw "Zbang" by Uri Fink and Ori Gross - January 2002
"Zbang" is a name of a comics and this is a book about how to draw
comics. Its written in a childlike manner, but its nice.

Cheap Moon - Anihu by Edgar Keret - September 2002
Another collection of short stories from Edgar Keret. I like his stories
and i actually think that this is the best collection. I guess that his
talent is getting better with time :)

My First Sony by Benny Barbash - December 2002
The book story is about a family problems. The story-teller is a young
boy, who is recording everything with his tape ("My First Sony") because
if no voice is left of people then others will forget them. The book
describes a thoughts flow of the boy, thus, very long passages and
page-long sentences. I've enjoyed the book, despite the sad story.
-
ZigZag kid by David Grossman - February 2003
The book describes a couple of days before Bar Mizva of a kid. Nono (the
kid) begins with a fun journey that his father and Gabi (father GF)
prepared to him, takes a side-way and experiences an other side of life:
the criminal side, with the world known criminal. Although, the book is
well-written and fun to read, the mystery is missing from it. There is no
danger waiting across the corner, which kind of spoils the fun. Anyway,
the book is fun and , eh, read it.

Mishakei Zugot by Sheli Yechimowitz - October 2004
The book is about betrayal, which i hate. Two couples of good friends all
of the sudden find out that two of them are unfaithful to their spouses.
At this point, which is very early in the book, the main event has
happened and now the rest of the book deals with feeling and analyzing of
this event.
The book is nice to read if you have enough time.
