Sandor Deutsch's story:
Sandor Deutsch was a leading industrialist in Hungary
of 1918-1948.
He was a special prisoner of the Gestapo
from March 1944 till May 1945, detained first in Budapest,
then in Berlin.

David Deutsch descendants:
Overview of the Deutsch family tree.
The patriarch is David Deutsch,
born in Pudmeric (Budmerice) 1840, a cohen,
emigrated in 1860 to New York,
but returned to Trnava (Nagy-Szombat) in 1861 and
died in Trnava 20.11.1911.
He was a grain dealer and traded on the commodity exchange in Vienna.
He had 11 children.
Their descendants are given below.

Bertha's family: Bertha Engel-Deutsch
perished in the Holocaust. Her son Oskar Engel and his wife Helus emigrated to Palestine
in 1940 (illegal immigration), but were interned in the British detention
camp in Atlit, after they survived the PATRIA incident.
Helus died shortly after in the camp on typhus. Oskar was set free in 1942.
Oskar and Helus had two sons Harry and George Engel.
Her two daughters were Hilda Berisch-Engel and Jenny Abeles-Engel.

are the Darveys in and around Sidney, Australia.

Descendants all live in Australia, with names White (Weiss),
Newman (Neumann).
Almost complete file with many pictures.

Only living descendant is Susan Dalton, living in California, USA.

Hermine's family:
Living descendant live in the United States under the name
Oesterreicher. Alex Beutler (born Oesterreicher)
lived in Bern, Switzerland,
and died there childless.
Rich file on the Swiss line.
Data of the American line incomplete.

Karl's family:
Karl Deutsch died in 1936. Two of his children, Zsuzsi and Tibor,
and his widow, Frieda Deutsch-Milch, perished in the Holocaust.
His other daughter, Anna Lager-Deutsch, survived in Bratislava,
Slovakia.
Only living descendant is Alexandra Lagerova, Anna's grandaughter,
living in Bratislava, Slovakia.

in Melbourne, Australia.

Very little known. Jacques Deutsch emigrated to New York
before 1930. Traces lost.

The Majtenyi-Markovits family:
Andras Majtenyi, born Andras Markovits, is
the father of
Janos Makowsky, son of Marianne Makowsky-Deutsch.
Grandfather
Jeno Markovits
was an important Hungarian Communist Official
in Finance and Economic policy from 1945-1971.
This pointers give an interesting insight into Hungarian Society
immediately after WWII.
