Research

I am interested in advancing the state of the art in information retrieval and natural language processing at Web scale. My recent research has been mainly focused on computational advertising, namely, designing ad matching systems that select contextually relevant ads in sponsored search and content match scenarios. I am also interested in using large-scale repositories of user-contributed knowledge (e.g., all of Wikipedia) to improve text processing and artificial intelligence applications.

Publications

Most of my publications are available online here (sorted by date or by publication type).

Resources

I used to maintain a (somewhat dated now) collection of resources in a variety of fields related to text, speech and language processing. These include computational linguistics, information retrieval and machine learning. Here you can find pointers to useful Web sites, as well as lists of relevant books, newsgroups and mailing lists, and much more.
