• Install Ubuntu

  • You can download Ubuntu Linux from here.

  • Now, install Automatix for an easy setup of basic applications on your box.

• Get your own domain

  • GoDaddy are selling domain names for low prices.

  • If you don't want to purchase a domain you can get a free one at DynDns.

• Getting DNS to work

  • For an internal DNS server, install bind9.

  • For exteranl DNS (linking your domain to your server), register free at ZoneEdit.

  • Use ddClient to update ZoneEdit (if you bought your own domain) or DnyDns (if you use a free domain).

• Install a Web-Server

  • Install Appache2 as your web-server with the help of this guide.

  • Get SSL and client-side-certificate authentication with your own CA, using this guide.
