Title: Hybrid Spectral Element/Asymptotic Method for Boundary Layers Problems

Abstract: An efficient high-order approach to multi-dimensional problems with boundary or interior layers is presented. It combines a coarse grid penalty-spectral element method with a local one dimensional asymptotic approximation. It is shown how to further improve the solution using the same coarse grid. Results for interior and boundary layer problems are presented.
