| Abstract: | Update languages and query languages for relational databases have attracted considerable attention. In this paper, we define the precise notions of {\em computable} (deterministic/non-deterministic) queries and updates for the relational data model, and we show a relationship between them. We describe some complete relational database languages, and point out a relationship between complete query and update languages that can be applied to any data model. |
