Technical Report CS0587

Title: Reliable Multilink Protocols
Authors: Y. Reshef and A. Segall
Abstract: Amultilink system consists of several full-duplex parallel links that carry data between two nodes. We construct a protocol, the Multilink protocol (MLP), that simulates a single full-duplex link system. We show how synchronization is achieved, and why the multilink protocol proposed by the existing standard is not reliable. The properties that a reliable protocol must fulfill are defined and the reliability of the new protocol is proven.
