• News from Reuter Online - keep yourself informed as data flows DIRECTLY from Reuters to your screen! There is also a summary available. (This server is a part of Yahoo - see below at Searching for Information).
• CNN - three letters that don't need comments.

• The Virtual Tourist I and Virtual Tourist II give you the ability to travel anywhere through the Internet. Recommended. The City Net is a great companion to these.
• Alta Vista! - lately it's the only search engine I use. It beats Lycos, it beats Yahoo (which now uses Alta's search mechanism as an enforcement). It kicks ass. And it finds everything!
• Lycos: one of the (IMHO) fastest search engines on the Internet, and in most cases more competent than (even) Yahoo!
• Pathfinder PLServer Search - search for data in current news media!
• Pathfinder Index - various online media, including Time!
• Yahoo - one of the best places to search on the Internet. Its subject-oriented pages are peerless, and it has but lately reinforced its search mechanism with the almighty Alta Vista!
• Britannica Online - search Encyclopædia Britannica from your computer! (For registered users only).
• One thing that goes with an encyclopædia is a dictionary, and here's The Webster Dictionary as an online hypertext interface. It's not too smart; neither is it very fast, as most of the servers attached to it were closed (I presume because of those darn "legal actions"); but it works.
• The WWW to Finger Gateway - finger anyone you want, and sometimes you'll even see his/her face! Another fingering device is simply this - quick but no faces.
• Major Internet bodies likeWeb KNX, GNN (Global Network Navigator), Starting Point and CompuServe.

• A large list of home pages of combinatorial people and groups, maintained by Georgia Tech.
• Home pages and information about individual specialists in the field:

• The Erdos Number Project - most people who deal with Combinatorics know what an Erdos number is, and those who respect themselves even have one (I don't, meanwhile; but my thesis advisor has Erdos number 2!). Here you'll be able to find everything you ever wanted to know about that function whose domain is the set of mathematicians (and more).

• The Fellowship of the Flying Paladin - a most unusual role-playing group whose gamemaster I happen to be. (Modesty's the word...)
• The Yahoo Role-Playing Page - plenty of useful links!
• The AD&D Usenet Newsgroup, which I often visit.
• John Olsson's RPG Page - very recommended and newly refashioned. This place hosts the official Home Site of Reid Bluebaugh, the Guide Creator, and contains the latest version of The Guide to Carnal Knowledge, dubbed also "The AD&D Book of Sex" - and it's even in the process of being converted to hypertext format!! Hurray! (Note our Fellowship is mentioned there, especially Luwain!). (By the way, I also have a [not so updated] version of the Guide available through the Net - but this will be probably removed since John has found a home for the new and updated Guide). Besides, John's site has lots of links and goodies.
• Morpheus has established a must site (nominated Top 5% by PointCom) which contains a great and substantial index of Web RPG resources, this being only one (though the most important IMHO) of the pages offered on his main RPG page. Another is the NetBooks of AD&D Site - but here you'll encounter an immediate problem: you'll need a password. This is a by-result of TSR's legal pressure, I would guess; still, I don't have a password and probably won't ask for one. However, a great Czech guy named Peta has managed to copy all the NetBooks to his own archive - so all the Netbooks of AD&D are there, GZIPped. The NetBooks are a wonderful compendium of Everything Ever Written on the Net regarding AD&D. Pity such information should be transferred in an underground manner.
• The aforementioned Peta's AD&D Page from the Czech Republic with an enormous wealth of material.
• The Wanderer's RPG page - a good Canadian site (formerly hosting the NetBooks, too; now no more, but many good resources still). The problem with this site is that his FTP server really sucks.
• The Fantasy and Other Role-Playing Games (RPGs) page at uiuc.edu - very good and encompassing links from all over the Web.
• The Great Net.Book Archive, containing, among others, the Great Net Spellbook and Prayerbook - and much more to be seen.
• Baron Stradh's TSR-free Assorted AD&D site, also supporting The Great Net Spellbook and Prayerbook (and some assorted RPG stuff). Thanks, Baron!
• A highly recommended D&D page by Ilan Capone - an excellent (Israeli, by the way) role-playing site, explaining what this D&D is all about - and much more.
• Shadowrun - for those who like it. There are many other Shadowrun (and Rolemaster, Paranoia, Stormbringer, Call of Cthulhu...) sites mentioned in the indices above.
• My unsorted AD&D List archive, containing (how dull!) only my own letters from 1992-93.
• The ultimate truth about TSR's relationship with the darker forces of the macrocosm may be found here and in other places collected and/or maintained by Niilo Paasivirta of the Ever Blinking Home Page. However, nothing can rival TSR's own Code of Ethics - this one is for real!
• Jeff Freeman has compiled an RPG page with more material directed against those who still hold the ridiculous claim that role-playing is dangerous.

• Cosma Shalizi's home page is one of the most fascinating ever. The vastness of his work can be more easily dealt with through an alphabetic listing of his resources. See also Authors: Lovecraft.
• Le Louvre - no comments, pardon my French.
• The Noam Chomsky Archive - one of the greatest linguists alive.
• A Scientific Library is a good thing to have when you're online.
• On a different tune, you can read now Lao Tze's DaoDeJing (also spelled Tao Te Ching) - the Treatise on the Way and the Power - online. And if you have both a graphic browser and a knowledge of Chinese, you can peruse that book in the original language (always the best).
• And when have you last read about, think about or (God forbid) worship An, Enlil and Enki? Here's a detailed Sumerian Mythology FAQ by Christopher Siren, who has much other information concerning myths and religions (have you thought about the connotation of your first name and its meaning with regard to this page, Christopher? )

• Are you a geek? Probably yes, if you're reading this. Fill this form to find out what kind of geek you are! (Look here for my personal geek code). And while in the geek mode, you may try the Geek Site of the Day!
• The Spot: mostly appealing for the average viewer, this place (elected cool site of the year 1995) is a mixture between a TV soap opera, a theatre show and a MUD (wow! I bet nobody else defined it this way). Quite well done, though I prefer role-playing myself. Ah, and yes, they're not real.
• If you want to take a break from the educational Web-show presented above, try bianca's Smut Shack and don't tell anybody. (bianca has no capital B, but she loves you nonetheless).
• Soft Targets - a comic strip.
• Humor Web - big; I am not responsible.
• How do other nations think in English? "Ladies are requested not to have children in the bar" (seen in a Norwegian cocktail lounge) is just one example. This is one of the best pages found on Igor Chudov's humour collection. Other pages there are chiefly in Russian.
• The Weird Places on the Net - a long but spectacular list, and still only a part of Josh Brown's List of the Wild Weird Wonderful Web (a great thing, though he still has to learn how to spell "milennium").
• For the scientifically minded who still remember the Journal of Irreproducible Results, here's its successor, Hot Air - the home page of the Annals of Improbable Research (AIR) and the Ig Nobel Prize committee.
• A reloadable and always-renewing quote from Mr. Spock - no emotions here, but phrases like "Women are more easily and more deeply terrified ... generating more sheer horror than the male of the species". I like them. (The quotes or the women? Let you decide).

• Maya Bar-Yahalom, mayka on IRC and, it appears, my wife. Address updated February 9, 1997 and points to an interesting home page created the same day.
• Mellon means "friend" in the Grey-elven tongue, Sindarin. And Mellon is the IRC nickname of my friend Anatoly Vorobey, whose home page is quite promising. (So promising that the address is now twice updated here - stop wandering!).
• The said Mellon is a member of Forum 2 - a clever bunch of illustrious people, whose collective home page is worth a look.
• Anton Nossik, a well-known journalist and author, has established a home page complex which is incomparable both in depth (number of pages and their contents) and width (of each single page; you need to zoom your viewer to full-screen to cope with Anton). His Joseph Brodsky page, one of the best I've seen, is only a little part of the informational wealth found there. By the way, he's usually Emigrant on IRC. (Note: address updated!)

  • The Esperanto Home Page, explaining in English the basic concepts of that wonderful International Language, with links.

  • La Akademio Internacia de la Sciencoj en San-Marino.
  • The home page of Ulf Lunde - an Esperanto speaker and Tolkien fan from Norway.
• Hebrew - also ISRAEL in general:
  • Macom Networking with its extensive link-list. Among other things, sign for Ron Arad.
  • If you want to know Jerusalem (even if you live there...) - The Jerusalem Mosaic (newly expanded and revised) is the best way on the Internet (at least, I don't know a better one...); there's also Jerusalem One - with stress on national and religious aspects.
  • There is an official information server for the State of Israel with much information. Of course, it comes from the government and looks accordingly, but it's better than could have been expected.
  • The (almost) Complete Guide to WWW in Israel by Nadav Har'El.
  • A must - get to know about the Golan heights and try to save them at the same time!
  • The Dead Sea Scrolls are now exhibited on the Net - go there by all means!
  • Interesting pointers at Leonid Voldman's page.
• Russian:
  • Bout Rimé (BURIME) founded by Dmitry Manin - this game is an absolute must for every Russian speaker on the Net whose knowledge is enough to know rhyme where he/she sees it. Yes! It has moved, and we have catched it! Address updated on February 9, 1997, and it works. Really.. If you see Khatul's signature under some of the masterpieces, be sure it's me.
  • Hajfskie Neshery: For people in Haifa (Israel) with fluent command of Russian and fondness for the Bardic tradition - a Home Page of the Haifa KSP, maintained by yours truly and lately reworked to gain some substantiality, is much recommended. Recommended, of course, by no other than yours truly...
  • All Russian Literature is here! Well, almost. This is the marvellous library indexed by Alex Farber and maintained partly by Maxim Moshkov. I don't even need to list the sections - it's amazingly user-friendly and you can find there unfathomed riches. But beware: for Netscape 2+ users only - it has got 'em frames! (Ah, you're asking, what coding? As Scherbakov would have said, "vopros nelep - otvet: vsego!" - every coding is available! The link above leads directly to KOI-8, and this one to a menu with various encodings, including Latin transliteration for all the poor fellows who still live un-Cyrillized. Said fellows are recommended to take a look at Maxim's Cyrillisation Page).
  • Speaking of Mikhail Scherbakov, here is an excellent Scherbakov home page by a jolly good fellow from Canada named Vladimir Smirnov. The songs there are in KOI-8 Cyrillic; the collection (referenced from Farber's library mentioned above) is the fullest and includes virtually everything ever written by this great poet and bard, and much more. On Vladimir's main page there are many goodies, too - look for his UNICOD program!
  • A Russian Club at MIT, which is most worth contacting for its wonderful Song Collection:
    • If you don't have KOI-8 Cyrillic (I do now, but for a long time this was one of the greatest torments I experienced!), get the Song Collection this way (through a translating program). [Note: unfortunately, the translator is presently inactive].
    • If by some miracle you do have such fonts, connect to the Club directly without the translator, thence go to the Song Collection.
    • Anyway, the best collections worldwide are indexed at Farber's (referenced above).
  • Other poetry, song and prose collections:
    • A great and thousandfold recommended Bard Song Collection by the well-known Simon (CEMA) Hawkin. This includes Russian PostScript-encoded songbooks. Visit it now!
    • Misha Verbitsky's Usenet Poetry collection;
    • an excellently maintained Authors' Song Collection at wvu.edu, with Russian texts in GIF format (I have never seen another such archive) and .au music files!
    • A good Music Page at Little Russia in San Antonio, TX - .au files only, with pictures and short bios (they have already realised that Klatchkin is dead... though it took them a little while). A well-organised collection.
    • An Australian Russian (Jewish?) Community in Melbourne maintains a PS-compressed Literary Collection ranging from the Strugatzkys to Barkov, a scanned (like the wvu.edu archive mentioned above - VERY easy to read on a graphic browser!) Russian Joke collection and much more.
  • Valerij Kolpakov's links, and also the much renowned Gusarskij Club which he founded. Note that on Valerij's own page the link to the Club is outdated...
  • The Homepage for #russian IRC channel, maintained by Marat Fayzullin (RST38h), and the celebrated (but presently inactive) Israel on #russian extension, provided by Kot - I'm not the only cat 'round here!
  • BACbKA (V. Khachaturov) with his "MITEK" text and more funny things. (Try the Assembly Instructions - it's in English!).
  • Some ex-Soviet humour from umd.edu.
  • Care for Dubna? But you'll certainly care for St. Peterburg, and also Kiev (where you can visit the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra)! Explore these!

• Prof. J.R.R. Tolkien
  • The Tolkien Society (UK), and Taruithorn, its Oxford smial. Another page (though small) for the Tolkien Society is provided by a Finnish fan.
  • The J.R.R. Tolkien Information Page from Canada - very extensive. It has also a mirror in the USA.
  • TolkLang, the Tolkien Language List, and related links found there.
  • The Electronic Tolkien Encyclopedia Project - which its founder, Jack Lang, describes as "an on-going effort to provide to the reading public a collection of thought-provoking analysis of Tolkien's works, study and subject guides to aid in critical treatments of Tolkien's literature, and a thorough encyclopedia of names, places, things, and events which are the substance of Tolkien's fiction. The encyclopedia (=encyclopædia) itself is here.
  • Hildifons Took (Gary Hunnewell, the editor of Ravenhill, which is not related to Ravenloft) has a thorough list of Tolkien Fannish and Scholarly Activities and Publications. Pity it's only updated to 1993. Still worth many looks.
• H.P. Lovecraft
  • The Cthulhu/Lovecraft UseNet Newsgroup, which I haunt sometimes.
  • A Short History of H.P. Lovecraft is only one of the resources of the Lovecraft Page in Spain (it's bilingual English/Spanish), containing links to many other Lovecraft home pages!
  • The Lovecraft Page by Peter Vorobieff, with strange pictures indeed. (Maybe Pickman's infamous photo will be there, too? Check to find out).
  • Cosma Shalizi's studies on Jesus Cthulhu - are they one and the same? - and Cthulhu Project - is Cthulhu a spaceship being built on Earth? Also, his Cthulhu Cults annotated list makes me dissolve into blue dust! Take a look also at the Cthulhu Hymnal.
  • Ryan Parker's study of the Necronomicon and its possible sources and meta-sources.
• Tove Jansson - yes, the Moomintroll creator! See the Moomintroll Home Page by Faz!!!

• M.C. Escher is collected in many places on the Net, this is the ultimate one I've found.

• A home page for our cats, Tali and Rikki will, I hope, appear when I get access to a scanner.
• Cats on the Internet (replacing, it seems, the now-dead World Wide Cats server) - whatever you wanted to know or see about cats, including cat home pages. For even more data - look at the following link.
• NetVet - Cat Home Page - you won't be able to tell your cat that you don't know how to treat him/her. Also contains LOTS of cat pointers which formerly could be found on World Wide Cats.
• A Green Cat not mentioned (to my best knowledge) in the above resources is no other than the feline embodiment of Elena Green, a gifted painter affiliated to the mit'ki anti-stream. Her pictures are worth seeing! (They appear in collections of Russian-related art referred to elsewhere).
• Ami & Mark Claxton's home page contains a page about their cats. I confess that the similarity between their black Misha and my own picture in feline form (found on my home page) is not a coincidence.
• My humble collage of Internet feline pictures.

• Want a Web home page of your own? Here, believe it or not, it's possible! And if this isn't enough, this site has also a large collection of images, including icons.
• WWW Images (from Alcons) - an Australian icon library with references to other libraries.
• Scientific images (used in formulae) may be obtained here. It' sperfectly done, but... this computer has no anonymous ftp access, thus the icons must be fetched one-by-one (no mget in Netscape...).
• COLOURS!!! If you work with Netscape, you may wish to paint your home page, and this program will help you see the results before changing your source code. (It was written by Doug Sapp, a notable geek from Missouri).
• A collection of images at Macom (Israel).
• A Canadian site with the strange name of the Community Futures Development Corporation of the North Okanagan has an excellent CGI collection as shareware, though it's mostly not for Unix.
• Mekif Het High School - it's interesting enough to see an Israeli high school on the Net, especially one where my friend Lion studies; but here you can find many useful things too.
