Fellowship Characters - 2.5-year memorial survey

This is a description sent to the players of the Fellowship of the Flying Paladin on Sun, 2 Apr 1995, commemorating the second-and-a-half anniversary of the latter's existence. It can be used as a general - if not up-to-date - information source.

Subject: Looking back II: one year ago and now

Dear Players of mine, As I had told you already, due to the 2.5th (go read this aloud! :-) ) anniversary of the Fellowship of the Flying Paladin I am going to repost and/or /remember some old material. The first which comes to mind is the description of the Fellowship I gave exactly a year ago, on 7 Apr 1994. There, celebrating the 1.5th anniversary (again, go read it aloud), I described our party. What has changed? What remains? What is yet to be revealed? All of this is open to comments. The April 1994 text is indicated with asterisks (*). My new text is not. Moreover, I will be MORE than happy if you DO read this message, as it is NOT just a repost. Let's, therefore, open the page of our diary and recall... *Date: Thu, 7 Apr 1994 15:22:39 +0300 (EET DST) *From: Eliyahu Bar-Yahalom <massi@techunix.technion.ac.il> *To: The Fellowship of the Flying Paladin -- * Baturlan the Brave Bard, * Dino Sakar the Timely , * Lin Tsaharn - Bayaseda the Grey , Now Gadhallari. * Letto the Flying Paladin , * Luwain the Nightingale , * Nor the Mysterious , Not with us anymore. Motti, however, sends his regards. * Orion the Holy Ghost , * Sitsint the Keyboard-wielder , Traditionally included, though he left the party long ago. He keeps being interested in it. * Snim Amisakar HaQuidesitsuhur , Also NoitRaTsed, Bannor, DHannaMeRTsami and lately M(e)istRaKan. * Tei HaTor the Multi-coloured , * Tsera the Transfinite , * Yanithlaron the Silver-handed , May he rest in pieces. Adi, however, is still there with 2 characters... * Yenkir the Mighty-minded Indications that she would become Qaggh were noticed even then. *Subject: Play Thu II *Dear Players of mine, * *Session: We shall meet TODAY Thu 7 Apr, 21:00. *======= The location, as in the good old times, is... * You got it! AMADO 6th floor!!!! *Yes, we start meeting in the Technion as in the old days! I remind you that we used to meet in Yuli and Nir's apartment. Sometimes also in Gabi's. The reason we don't meet in Amado anymore is the reason why we had originally left it - the Math administration didn't like monster-slaughter on its premises... *Speaking of the old days: Do you know it's history time? The *======================== Fellowship of the Flying Paladin has * been in existence for A YEAR AND A HALF *now! This is a great achievement for the whole of us. To be sure, *not all of us date back to those times: thus, the oldest members are *Nir <Orion+Luwain, initially just Orion - though Luwain *was* there *too with another player and later on as half-NPC - hard to imagine *now> and Lior <Letto, the unimaginably unique, the one and only *Flying Paladin, who has the whole party named after him and without *whom it wouldn't have existed> - both among the founders of the *Fellowship around early October [late September?] 1992 - just before *the beginning of the Winter Semestre. Still true (though Nir has the Murdin-type KorLan/Lin whatever; this doesn't, however, in any way diminishes the quality of his play and harms neither Orion - lately committed suicide and resurrected! - nor Luwain). Also, now it is clear that we started playing in October, not September (DM's personal evidence). * Sela <Snim Amisakar *HaQuidesitsuhur, once also called NoitRaTsed the Time Bender> joined *in early Nov 1992, and Barak <Baturlan the Bard - who remembers that *he had been a mage and then a vampire?> the month after. Some new names and a more horrible appearance to Snim; prophecies to Baturlan (and some changes in his personality). *Then (I am counting only present Fellowship members, not the 3 who *have left us) came Danny <then as Getalby the Shamamapi *Mage/Fighter, later married and settled in his Enclave while Danny *was lying in bed in a semi-undead state - now returning, literally, *from the Otherworld as Bayaseda the Grey, Lin Tsaharn> and Dovi <The *Hidden One - now to emerge from his hiding place in the Army after *loong time no see>, Gadhallari is, of course, the continuation of Lin Tsaharn; The Hidden One has been revealed so well that nobody, I think, remembers that he had a long break in his play. * and soon also Yuli <Tei HaTor, who certainly *added a lot of *colour* to the party; it is hoped that she will *regain her health and resume normal activities - even attending *meetings, maybe even today!>. Like hell she does! :) Despite being a full-time employee and a full-time mother. Note Meindan, her second character who is, in a certain sense, the opposite of Tei HaTor. * Next came Alex <SiTsint - now "hanging *around" the party but not actually in the campaign - yet, once, *maybe...> and brought Adi <the player who changed characters more *than anybody else here: Kris, alias Sirq, alias Dara, alias Linquar, *the dark genius who himself changed appearance, language, class and *even race and sex, then even changed body, only to die by the hand *of his own creation; Yani the silent and modest Dolos who came to *saving his god in Kuwa and now has his plans for homecoming ruined; *and Dino Sakar the jolly but pretty destructive student of Time *Sciences, who ought to have the words "DON'T BLAME ME!!!" written on *his forehead>. BOOM! We didn't GUESS back then just HOW destructive he was! Just add the creation of the Singular Point, the attack on the giant fish (or rather on Orion), and of course the gluing-up of all lecturer types, and lately the throwing of hand-grenades on the party - resulting inbeing thrown himself to Tsera and Siweha's prison - from which he emerged last session... more destruction ahead. Also, the multiple-character tendency continues: add Lotmiras - I know Adi liked him very much, this was a nice character, but life is hard and then Siweha kills you. And add Larkhan, a sort of counter-KorLan. The road goes ever on. * Next came Gabi <Friends - 600,000,000 identities who *can still be labelled "The One and Only"; now outside the party, *having stayed in normal time - but still not outside the campaign>. Some time after that letter, Friends (or Prof. Siweha Yovi Tana) indeed made that travel back to the party's time, and has participated in a year-or-so of fruitful sessions. Now semestre pressures may again affect Gabi's schedule adversely, but if this will be, this is well-coordinated with Siweha's plans outside the Fellowship. *Nobody could believe the party could widen further, but it did, and *this didn't bring any harm! May <Yenkir the erratic and strange Tsji *woman, who seems far from being at peace even with herself> To this Snim will wholeheartedly consent. Yenkir has dramatically influenced the party and its internal relationship. Her projects, contacts and emotional development has caused people to be mad, pleased, and many other feelings of a constructive and destructive nature. Now she has undergone a transformation and become Qaggh (Dwarvish for "time", and very similar - maybe identical - to the woman the Fellowship had encountered in Mandu Castle). *and Motti <Nor, a jolly son-of-a-bitch who shamelessly worships the *darkest of forces>. Nor has been destroyed together with the Hidden One (rescued apparently by his god) and all of Tei HaTor's beasts in an explosion caused (accidentally, OF COURSE) by Dino. Motti says that his first roleplaying experience was not backed up by reading fantasy books or previous pondering on these matters. He doesn't play anymore, but time has its surprises... *Last came Maya <Tsera, a definitely VERY strange *creature - and to be called "strange" in THIS party is a great *compliment!>. "Last came..."! Maya has been playing for more than a year now, and though it is not ethical to evaluate one's own wife, I think I can be excused by my position as DM, which requires utter objectivity anyhow. Maya has certainly justified Tsera's "strangeness": her special behaviour, her way of fighting (from tying the monsters' tails to each other to impersonating a fish to all other things which fall outside normal logic and are surprising to opponents and allies alike - comparable in this to Siweha). Maya hasn't been last, actually: we have Avi <first the magnificent character of Sahgup, with its heroic rise and fall; Avi seems to have grieved over him very much, and justly; his (relatively) new character Lurnil doesn't compensate him for Sahgup's destruction, and this calls for things to happen>, and Hayek <Cnoctau Suonu Yulapoppoi: the first sessions didn't give him much a chance to show himself, except for the fact that he role-plays his character well (which means befuddled and confused). Last session showed a great strengthening of Cnoctau's character in the Bavoz episode, again reflecting the internal circumstances; hey ho way to go>. *Everybody exhibits unparallelled role-playing ability and skill, *which makes the campaign just what it is. I enjoy it. * *We shouldn't forget the players who left us - not of their own will: *the other Alex <Nutari the Shankist> and Tamir <Lazuli the Death *Bard>. Also notable was Vered <a "guest appearance" as Marla in the *very beginning>. This will help us to cure ourselves from *the trauma caused by Shay <Shnaud>. :))) Ditto. *That's it. If you have some comments, feel free to make them! And now, too! The original message contained also acknowledgments for the session-to-be. *Acknowledgments: Positive: Orion+Luwain, Baturlan, Letto, **=============== Yani+Dino, The Hidden One. * Tentative: Tsera, Tei HaTor, Lin Tsaharn. * Negative :( : Snim, Yenkir [exam tomorrow]. * *That's it. See you all today! I hope our Fellowship will continue going on, and negative acknowledgments will become an exception. Hold on!!! Now, as then, I remain Monstrously, the Massi of Mirn-Kaia.
