The Academic Ranking of World Universities for 2009 graded the Technion in the field of computer science in the 17th place in the world. The ranking, performed by the Institute of Higher Education of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, is based on several excellency factors such as number of faculty and alumni winning Turing award, number of highly cited researchers, number of published papers, and percentage of papers published in top journals.
