Google Day held on Nov. 8, 2006

Google Day held on Nov. 8, 2006Google Inc. held a day-long series of events in the Computer Science Taub building on Nov. 8, 2006. The day started with online computer science brainteasers for students (with prizes for the winners) in the PC farm, proceeded with a technical talk by Senior Scientist Yoram Singer held in an overflowing auditorium, followed by a luncheon for Excellent Students, product demos and office hours, and concluded with a panel discussion. In parallel, the Google technical staff heard technical presentations by Computer Science and Electrical Engineering professors on their relevant research. This action-packed day promises to be the beginning of a productive relationship between the Technion and Google, who recently opened an R&D office in Haifa headed by Yoelle Maarek, herself a computer science PhD from Technion.
