Uzia Galil talks in Industrial-Academia ForumThe Computer Science INDUSTRIAL-ACADEMIC FORUM (TechIA Forum), an initiative of the Industrial Affiliates Program (IAP) and the Graduate Students Union of the Faculty of Computer Science at the Technion, inaugurated this year's lecture series on December 11th. The forum aims at developing a meaningful dialog between academia and industry. Over 200 people came to hear Uzia Galil, "the father of Israeli hi-tech", speak on "PUTTING COMPUTER SCIENCE AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS TO WORK FOR MEDICINE." The talk was followed by an lively Q&A session. Saar Pilosof, the forum coordinator, is to be congratulated on organizing the impressive event. Prof. Moshe Eizenberg, Technion Vice President for Research, welcomed Mr. Galil to the Technion and the Forum. Uziah Galil is internationally known as the founder of Elron Electronic Industries Ltd., the first high technology holding company in Israel. Throughout Mr. Galil's remarkable career, he has been involved in Technion activities and contributed from his expertise by serving as Chairman of the International Board of Governors of the Technion during 1980-90. Today, Uzia Galil serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Uzia Initiatives and Management Ltd., whose mission is "to make regional innovations a global success."
