Subject: Microsoft Israel - A Notice concerning MSR 2009 PhD Scholarships

Dear Friends,

The Microsoft Research PhD Scholarship Program, recognizes and supports
exceptional students who show the potential to make an outstanding
contribution to science and computing.

As part of the overall effort of Microsoft in Israel to support academic
excellence, we would like to encourage you to submit your application for
the 2009 Microsoft Research PhD Scholarships. Each Microsoft Scholar will be
awarded a bursary of up to 33,000 EUR per year up to a maximum of three
years, and will have the opportunity to be invited to Microsoft Research in
Cambridge for a Summer School.

All relevant information and a link to the application process can be found
at: http://research.microsoft.com/ero/icd/phd/. Keep in mind, the deadline: 10
September 2008.

Applications must be made by PhD supervisors, not by students. Supervisors
will be informed of MSR's decision by November 2008 and will then have up to
a year to find the best student possible for the proposed project.

As this is a highly competitive framework, and as only one application per
university department or per laboratory of a national research institution
will be considered, we strongly recommend that you set up a mechanism to
select the best candidates (for reference see the list of 2007 scholars at:
http://research.microsoft.com/aboutmsr/jobs/fellowships/scholars_europe.aspx
).

If you need assistance with suggesting a possible reviewer for your
application from Microsoft Research, please let us know and we will do our
best to locate one for you.

Sincerely yours,

Gady Paran
