Summary of the meeting:
We had the honor of having Mr. Dan Vilenski as our guest speaker. Mr. Vilenski discussed several models that might improve the cooperation between academia and industry. The contradicting objectives between the two were in the core of the discussion. Academia's main objectives are to educate and train Scientists and Engineers, create new and significant scientific advancements through basic research and to be the source of knowledge and innovation for the Israeli industry. From the industry's point of view, academia can be a `golden egg' for new technology and products. Unfortunately the cooperation between the two groups is poor. Academia and industry can have greater benefit from the cooperation than risks involved.
