President and CEO of Uzia Initiatives and Management Ltd.
Until November 1999, Uzia Galil served as Chairman and CEO of Elron Electronic Industries Ltd., the first high technology holding company in Israel. During this period he also acted as Chairman and/or Member of the Board of Directors of the publicly traded Elron affiliates - Elbit Ltd., a communication company, Elbit Systems Ltd., a defense electronic company, EMI Ltd. and Elscint Ltd., medical imaging companies and the private companies in the Elron group and continues to serve as a member of the Boards of Directors of Orbotech Ltd., Partner Communications Co. Ltd., NetManage Inc. and as Chairman of Zoran Corporation (all publicly traded).
Prior to founding Elron, Uzia Galil was the head of the electronic department of physics at the Technion between 1957 and 1962.
From 1954 to 1957 he served in the Israeli Navy in charge of electronic R&D.
From 1953 to 1954 he worked in R&D with Motorola in Chicago, USA.
From 1980 to 1990, Uzia Galil served as Chairman of the International Board of Governors of the Technion.
Uzia Galil holds an M.Sc.EE degree from Purdue University and a B.Sc. degree from the Technion.
The Technion, the Weizmann Institute of Science, the New York Polytechnic University and the Ben-Gurion University have awarded Uzia Galil an honorary doctorate.
He is also a recipient of the Israel Prize in 1997.

Summary of the meeting:
We had the honor of having Mr. Uzia Galil as our guest speaker. In front of a crowded auditorium, Mr. Galil presented his views about the process of taking an idea and making it a reality. He then continued to demonstrate this process with current telemedicine applications. An open discussion between Mr. Galil and the other participants followed.
