Summary of the meeting:
The TechIA forum was honored to host Dr. Boaz Eitan to present the story of Saifun, "From Basic Technology to Revenues" or "How to Dance with the Elephants and Survive?"
Dr. Eitan began by describing the technology revolution Saifun brought to the storage industry. The Saifun NROMTM technology supplied a paradigm shift in the market and became the grounds on top of which the company was founded. Dr. Eitan continued to depict the founding stages of the company and the process of constructing a business. The company started with good technology and attractive market potential, however lacked funding and skilled personnel. Saifun's executives decided to approach a strategic partner to bootstrap the company's operation and an agreement was reached with Tower Semiconductors. This cooperation enabled Saifun to put its "foot through the door" and begin its success story as a company.
Furthermore, Dr. Eitan gave an inside view into the famous legal battle Saifun had with AMD-Fujitsu, which was won by Saifun, including the events in the meetings and the strategic moves both sides made in this battle of wits.
The following numbers could best demonstrate the strength of Saifun's technology. Until today, Saifun has filed over 75 Saifun NROMTM patents and the technology sales this year achieved the astounding 500M$ figure.
