Gozal is a joint project of the Condor Project ® team of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Distributed Systems Laboratory of the Technion - Israel Istitute of Technology. The goal of the Condor Project is to develop, implement, deploy, and evaluate mechanisms and policies that support High Throughput Computing (HTC) on large collections of distributively owned computing resources. Condor software is deployed in numerous comercial, educational and research institutions.

DSL has been using Condor since early 2002. Ninety-CPUs Condor pool, built mainly of Linux and Windows desktops, is used by Technion's researchers and graduate students. Undergraduates get familiar with Condor mechanisms during "Introduction to Parallel and Distributed Programming" course.

GOZAL (nestling in Hebrew) is a name for the Condor-related projects in DSL, each one aiming to enhance some aspects of Condor, such as availability, manageability and resource security. Most of the projects are performed by undergraduate students. If successful, the prototypes are taken over for production development, to be further integrated with the mainstream Condor releases.
