Grading Policy
- The grade in the course will include 30% homwork (magen) and 70% -
100% Final exam.
- All 6 exercises should be submitted (in pairs). if a student fail to
submit an exercise his grade will be zero.
Course Structure
Part 1 (3 lectures): Fast LAN's:
- From Ethernrt and token ring to FDDI.
- voice transmition in FDDI/II.
- How can spatial-reuse increase the network's utilization.
- The theoretical limit of linear networks.
Part 2 (3 lectures): Fast WAN's:
- Digital transmition of voice.
- Data transmition via telephone networks (ISDN).
- Problems that occurs when voice and data are transmitted on the same net.
- Broadband ISDN.
Part 3 (8 lectures): ATM's technology:
- ATM as a single solution to both LAN's and WAN's.
- Support of diferent information types with different requirements.
- The structure of the ATM switch.
- Connection / disconnection protocols.
- Routing in ATM networks.
- Congestion control algorithms in ATM networks.

Engineering or Computer Science library & to bring them to the lectures.
- Submition of exercises in pairs only. Otherwise zero grade will
be given to the exercise.
- HW1 can be obtained at CS library "hadar iyun".
